Weekend Wrap up

Sooo I went to K-zoo for the weekend for the big BBQ . It had to be the weirdest weekend ever. Weird in both good and bad ways.

Friday I had to work until 11pm, so I got off work, loaded up a few bikes in CJ's truck and took off. I should have just gone Saturday morning, but I was really anxious to get there. So I get up there, can't find the place I'm supposed to stay at, and got slightly lost. I finally get to the house, unpack my sleeping bag and found a place on the floor. I try and sleep, but there is someone there snoring so loud that it is impossible to sleep. I layed there for two hours, and finally said fuck it. I went back to CJ's truck and slept there. Or tried to sleep there. I got maybe an hour and a half of quality (debatable) sleep.

Saturday we got up and rode to breakfast. That was nice. I hadn't really seen anyone from the night before, so getting to everyone was really cool. After breakfast we headed on a ride out to the park for the Mo-lympics . Or tried to. My bike kept breaking down. I had just got it running Thursday, so I expected some problems, but not as many as we had. A couple bolts had fallen off, and once I replaced them and replaced my spark plug, I was set. The Mo-lympics were kinda cool, but I missed some of them trying to get my lights to work on the moped, without the horn going off. Everytime you turned a light on, the horn would go off. I did get to see the trick contest that ended with Brendan from Seattle , jumping damn near 25ft and hitting a parked car. No damage to the car, but the moped was fucked. Brendan was a little shaky and bruised, but overall not bad. After the Mo-lympics we headed out of the park and went to try and find some food. We ate at the Crow's Nest (which rocks) and then headed to the shop so we could fix Leslie's Garelli that hasn't run in about 9 months. I got sick of sitting there waiting, so me Chris from Dearborn, Jeb and Ira from Tempe, all went to a place called Kraftbrau for a beer. I only had one, and we then headed to Rocketstar Cafe to meet up with everyone to head to a party.

We get over to the old moped shop which they had rented for the weekend for the party. It was odd, not like the way the moped parties used to be. First off the place was way packed. Was not very comfortable. Then the drunken boxing started. The first match was between two old friends. Miguel from K-zoo, and Josh from Boston. That was cool. You knew both these guys knew and loved each other. It was all in good fun. Then the cops showed up. We all went inside, where more boxing takes place. This time it was not cool. Two girls (I didn't know either of them) went at it. They were out for blood. Not fucking cool. That turned me off of the whole boxing thing that went on for a few more hours. Most of the Lefties left shortly after that. I didn't really blame them for leaving. It was odd. I had been drinking and I didn't want to ride my moped drunk so I stayed. I was having an OK time talking to people that weren't doing the boxing, so it was all good. The main people in charge left and me and Jason from Ann Arbor were kinda left in charge. It was getting late, so we decided to bring in all the mopeds that were still left outside. Pain in the ass. Some of them were locked together and we had to lift them both. We walk back in and we see two naked dudes standing there. I had enough of it by then and went to sleep. This was about 5am. I think. Might have been 6:30 for all I know.

Wake up 11am Sunday morning. Supposed to go to the captains meeting. CJ and Devin were both there, so I passed. I went last year and it was kinda boring. I guess it was the same this year. I go back to Kim's house (the place we were staying-BTW she rocks) to meet up with the Lefties and take a shower. Well I couldn't figure out the damn shower, so I just kinda splashed my bits and cleaned my armpits. Get done in the shower, and went outside and waited for the Lefties to get back from the hardware store. I think I fell asleep for a while. They get back and we haed over to Rocketstar to meet up for the ride. I get a muffin (that kicked ass), did the last repair I did all weekend on my moped and we waited to leave. Well most of the Lefties had to go back to Elkhart for a family thing, so they leave, and shortly after that we leave for the ride. That ride kicked ass. So much fun riding with 100+ mopeds. We went for about a 25 mile ride to Plainwell Michigan for ice cream. I guess the ice cream was very good, but I don't eat sugar, so I passed on getting any. We chill out there, and after I talked to the cops who were pissed we were blocking traffic we leave. The ride back was equally awesome. We get back to Rocketstar, and me Justin and Lisa from Dearborn and Jason all head to Bilbos for pizza.

The dinner was great. I met a dude from K-zoo that is in the branch that is still in High School. Nice guy. After dinner we went to Meijer so Justin could get an Airsoft gun. We also bought license plates for Kevin and Brendan from Seattle that said "Precious" and "Daddy's Girl." We wanted to buy some training wheels for Brendan after his accident the day before, but they were kind of pricey so we declined. Again after Meijer we headed back to Rocketstar to head to the party again at the old moped shop. We headed over to the party and I can tell it's not going to be as weird as the night before. There were bands playing, and some of them were quite good. I decide not to drink as much as I had the night before, so I had half a bottle of wine and a couple beers and I was cashed for the night. I stayed up pretty late. Nothing real crazy happened, except for when I tried to get through a window, I kinda messed my knee up. That and one guy passed out, and got his legs shaved.

Woke up Monday, went to Rocketstar (yet again) for a cup of tea. Met up with the Lefties, and we headed over to the shop for the main event. Nothing real exciting happened that day. We hung out, I helped make a some pins with Pat from Chicago, and that was about it. Devin entered two mopeds in the custom bike contest, and placed second and third. His was the coolest, but other people didn't like them as much. After that we started to head out to make out way back home. I decided that I wanted to ride my moped back to Elkhart, and was ready to do it solo. Ended up that three others decided to ride with me as well. It was weird. Maybe I was so tired, but I didn't think the ride back was anything special. It was fun don't get me wrong, and we weren't plagued by technical problems, so it should have been a blast. Once we got home, we ordered a pizza, smoked the hookah we bought up there, and I fell asleep on the couch. Eating the pizza and smoking the hookah on my couch was the highlight of my day. Just me CJ, and Leslie all chilling. Man it was nice.

Overall, I give the weekend a B grade. Could have been an A, but the weirdness took away from the experience.

Smoking the hookah, eating pizza, watching the biography of Cary Grant, and falling asleep was really awesome. It was one of those perfect moments when you are doing the exact thing to match your mood.

Hey,
Erin from Kalamazoo. It was fun time, but I found it weird as well. Maybe some of us are just getting old?

I found that instead of crazy sometimes it just seemed immature. I'm all about some random crazy, but planned crazy is well immature. I don't know. I'm just getting too old to enjoy craziness.
